Johannes on a food-buying mission on one of the short stops during one of our many bus trips. Luckily this time we got seats unlike the trip to Kudai with five of us all standing or lying piled on top of eachother and then ontop of our bags. One sick on the way and one desperate for the toilet. Not a happy bumpy ride through the night, but pretty funny in heinsight

Some gum leaves I collected in the forest on our way to the farm. Later we made a mobile and hung it in our hut for future stayers to enjoy. The place felt a bit in need of some decoration being very bare and minimalist

Great pics... Johannes looks as though he's begging at the bus window! Not a bad idea. Back in the '70s we used to get chai on the train in lovely little terracotta cups which were absolutely disposable - they turned back into claydust within days. I bet it's plastic now.

yes! Kudai is great and nice and small - a good change. es, I've heard about those little cups from Johannes- I think they still had them when he was here last, but it was further north. On the train from Bangalore to Pune they came around with big stainless steel containers full of hot chai and poured it into cups of plastic or paper. Everyone just chucks them out the window still -that hasn't changed!- but we kept a hold of ours till the end, much to the frustration of our fellow cab-sharers who kept telling us to throw them out the window. Who knows if it gets recycled after leaving the rubbish bins - I doubt it :(
