Beautiful sounding chimes at the Auroville visitor's centre. We crashed here after a long day of absorbing all the ideas and things to see there. Ahhh peaceful and cool...

Thank you for bringing it all back! I was lucky enough to go into some of the villages near the Kerala - TN border... the hills are lovely, and there is a good train across to Kerala from Dindigul. There are some pics on my old blog at http://travelswithterry.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteAnnie- yes, it is picturesque and quiet in the old part of the town, however then other side is pretty normal for a town like this.
We have decided not to stay at Auroville as it is a bit pricey for us and also we are not sure how involved we could get- it seems like maybe more of a way of them earning some money than a way of us being involved in the community. Tomorrow and the day after we are going to work on a film shoot as extras for this woman who came up to us on the street, Helene from France. That will be a good experience and not so much on the outside of things. After that we will head towards Mysore, I think. STill figuring it out.
Terry- Thanks for the link, I will check out your pictures. We went to Auroville by scooter to check out the visitors information centre. It is about ten k's from Pondicherry. Then we kept it for another day (since we had A LOT of petrol left over -the tank was still on full and we had paid for it, so we wanted to make use of it all!), and just went for a drive south along the main road until our bums got sore. Then we hopped off and took those pictures and got back on and went back to Pondi.
That's all for now! XX PS won't be able to call for the next two days as will be on film shoot. then will catch a bus somewhere new (so will be on bus most of day), so will call from a new place next. How exciting! lots of love! XXX
